One great comment we heard during the Chennai floods is that OMR ate 20 feet of Buckingham Canal, now Buckingham Canal is eating 20 feet of OMR. Below table, sourced from Wikipedia tells how much of the canal is encroached upon, either as a part of reclaiming or as illegal encroachments between Adyar and Cooum rivers. And yes, it’s going to be a great lesson for us.
