In Telugu poetry, Chatuvu is the form of poem which the poet recites on the spot, satisfying the complete grammatic meter, based on the situation. There were days when kings said out a random single line or gave a problem statement and the poets were asked to complete the poem.
Some of the gems of Telugu poetry come from this type of poetry, which became a part of Telugu folkore.

Some examples

1. This poem was recited by the court poet of Sri Krishna Devaraya, Tenali Ramakrishna, to confuse a foreign poet. It is made of two words – mEka(goat) and tOka(tail) along with the word ending -ku(for) as in mekaku(for the goat) and tokaku(for the tail)

I gave up long back trying to translate this.

2. Problem statement –

A group of elephants barged into the throat of an mosquito

Ranja Chedi Pandavulari
Bhanjanulai Viratu Golva Palapadirakata!
Sanjaya! Vidhinemandunu
Kunjara Yudhambu Doma Kuthuka Jochen!”

Lost in gambling, the Pandavas addressless and incognito, have settled in the court of king Virata. Sanjaya, what can I tell regarding fate, it’s like a herd of elephants barging into the throat of a mosquito.

3. In a travelogue by Srinatha saying that the people of the area of Palnadu have only jowar(millets) in their food and not rice.

jonnannamu jonna kUDu,
jonnambali, jonna kali, jonnale tappan,
sunnasumI sannannamu
pannuga palnATi sIma prajalandarakun..
